Paul trained with the Royal Navy to fly helicopters during the early 1990s, before studying for a degree in International Relations in Nottingham.
He began working alongside his father Tom in 1997, forming Acorn Commercial Finance together in 1997.
Since then Paul was elected to the board of the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers in 2003, serving the association for 5 years and held the directorship for Training and Education for 4 of those years.
Paul also featured on an episode of the BBC’s Inside Out investigative programme which focussed on an investigation into poor practices amongst some (other) finance brokers.
Since Tom’s retirement in 2016 Paul has been running the show and building Acorn.finance to the national brokerage it now is.
Paul is a regular speaker (Coronavirus aside) and has spoken on business and investor finance at a number of conferences and exhibitions.
Paul lives in York with his wife, Kate, her younger son and their black labrador Jonah. He has a favourite seat next to Paul’s desk in the home office and often joins in calls and Zoom meetings!
