Paul Thompson

Acorn.finance founder & North East England Broker.

Paul has lived in the North East since 2023 and is loving being near the sea and spending time with his wife Kate and with the office dogs, Bimba & Lola who often sneak into Paul’s home office to get involved in meetings and calls!

Away from work Paul is a keen runner, having completed his first marathon in 2019 and following cancer treatment through 2024 is enjoying getting back to full fitness.

Paul’s ties to the North East area go back over a century, his ancestors being engineers and merchant seamen in the late 19th and early 20th Century. Paul’s great uncle was the chief engineer to Sir Charles Parsons and worked closely with him on the invention of the Steam Turbine and their technology demonstrator, the SS Turbinia which made waves at the 1897 Spithead Naval Review.
