We act as an intermediary between businesses, property investors, and a panel of over 450 finance providers.

We collect personal identification details (name, address, date of birth, contact information), corporate trading data, property and asset information, financial accounts, bank statements, and credit history where relevant to a funding application.

Information is gathered directly from you, from public records such as Companies House and HM Land Registry, and with your consent from credit-reference agencies and open-banking providers.

During the initial advisory phase, Acorn Finance typically performs soft credit searches. These checks let us understand your credit profile and match you with suitable lenders without leaving a visible footprint that would affect your credit score.

A hard credit search is only carried out once you provide explicit consent and we submit a formal application to a specific lender. Hard searches are recorded on your credit file and may influence your credit score.

Your data is used to assess your funding requirements, prepare lender-ready credit papers, facilitate credit applications, and comply with legal and regulatory obligations including Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) checks.

We may also use your contact details to respond to enquiries, provide updates on your application, and send relevant marketing communications where you have consented to receive them.

We share your personal and corporate data strictly with lenders, insurers, surveyors, solicitors, and other professionals involved in sourcing and securing finance on your behalf.

Information is only shared where necessary to obtain indicative or formal terms, to satisfy lender underwriting requirements, or to complete a transaction.

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and object to processing of your personal data.
